Abigail E. Bartlett
statement appears humanIt has been a privilege to serve Clark County as a District Court Judge. The courthouse is where our community comes to seek justice. My principal duty as a judge is to ensure that justice is accessible, transparent, and fair. I do this by listening to each participant fully, following the law and applying it equitably, explaining court proceedings in a way that makes sense, remaining free from outside influences, and treating everyone who enters my courtroom with respect. I am especially proud to preside over Treatment Alternative Court and DUI Court. In these programs, we work to reduce criminal recidivism and increase community safety by addressing the underlying substance abuse disorders that can lead to criminal behavior. Outside of court, I believe our justice system works best when our community is engaged with it. That is why I regularly dedicate time to educating our youth on the rule of law and introducing them to careers in the justice system. I reside in Clark County with my husband, our 10- and 13-year-old children, and two cats. Thank you for the continued opportunity to serve you.
