Committee: Patrick Adigweme, Chair

Amendment 21 gives our County Council the ability to submit community members for consideration to the volunteer boards and commissions that help keep our County running. Currently, the Council can only nominate volunteers to the Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, and the Board of Equalization. This amendment expands that ability to include other boards and commissions, now and in the future, with the important exception of the Ethics Review Commission. This could potentially reduce the burden on county staff to fill spots on these commissions and increase the Council’s ability to keep these important volunteer roles filled. Councilors hear from the community often and they can help ensure that those who want to contribute can. A yes vote will make this common-sense adjustment to our Charter.
