My wife and I moved into the Rimrock Meadows region of Douglas county in 2017. We enjoy the rugged landscape, wildlife, and natural beauty. As all of us know, these same qualities turn into a tinderbox during the hot dry summer months. Oddly through the years, this section of the county has been overlooked for the formation of a fire district. We’ve received three evacuation notices due to impending wildfires. In 2020, we evacuated for three days while waiting for the hopeful news that the fire had been contained. The fire, driven by high winds, had been advancing at a rate of twelve miles per hour. We thankfully received the news that adjoining fire districts along with state and federal support, had contained the fire “eight” miles from our home. It’s apparent the threat remains constant, I urge you, please vote yes for the passing of this resolution.
