Our state and federal constitutions rely on the courts to safeguard your rights and liberties. As a judge for the past five years, I’ve focused on improving access to justice and strengthening public safety.
I founded the District Court’s first therapeutic court to address high-risk Driving Under the Influence offenses through accountability and treatment. I also expanded District Court’s probation services to include pre-trial monitoring. Both of those reform are vital steps toward preventing crime and saving taxpayer dollars.
In our county, every dollar matters. Over the past five years I fought for nearly $1 million in state funding to support innovative local programs, and the District Court’s Blake Day event I led refunded nearly half a million dollars from the state to community members.
That kind of progress draws me to serving as a judge. I can make a real difference, not just in the cases I hear each day, but in the community where we all live.
A judge or attorney can easily see dozens of cases in a week. But for the person involved in that case, that might be the only time they’re in a courtroom. And that matters to me.
