The criminal justice center project is still my #1 priority. Our jail is over 45 years old and is in a constant state of disrepair. These maintenance issues are a huge liability to Corrections Officers and Inmates alike. A new jail would minimize potential catastrophic incidents from aging infrastructure and maintenance failures. I plan on getting our jail accredited through the Washington Association of Sheriff’s and Police Chiefs (WASPC). This will decrease susceptibility to lawsuits, lower insurance costs and increase public confidence in our office. I plan on developing a sheriff cadet program to introduce young people to law enforcement through training, mentorship, and community service. Cadets will learn discipline, teamwork, leadership, and basic policing skills. The program builds confidence, responsibility, and career awareness, preparing participants for future employment with the sheriff’s office. During the past 4 years, I have proven to be tough on crime and will continue to aggressively investigate crimes and arrest individuals responsible for those crimes. This encompasses violent crimes, crimes against children, theft, and drug dealers selling drugs in our community. I support the Second Amendment and the rights of the people to keep and bear arms and those rights shall not be infringed upon.

I am running for Sheriff because the citizens of Grays Harbor, along with the deputies who serve them, deserve strong leadership, meaningful engagement, and consistent representation. This role is not just about enforcement. It is about accountability, visibility, and building trust within the community while supporting the men and women who serve it every day. The Sheriff is the face of law enforcement for the county and must be a public-facing and accessible representative of the people. As Sheriff, I will attend public meetings to hear directly from residents, provide updates on the Sheriff’s Office, and ensure transparency in its operations and needs. I believe the challenges facing the Sheriff’s Office should be openly discussed, including the condition of our facilities and the reduction in staffing despite population growth. I will also work with state legislators to secure available funding and ensure the voice of Grays Harbor is heard when state policies are being considered. As a mayor, I have gained experience making decisions that reflect the needs of the people. I bring experience from both public and private sectors, including developing business plans, managing budgets, and working with state legislators to secure funding for the communities I serve.
