Shawn D. Hill
(Prefers Democratic Party) statement appears human I am your current Grays Harbor
County Treasurer and a lifelong resident of Grays Harbor. I was appointed by
the County Commissioners to fill the vacancy following the former treasurer’s retirement. With nearly nine years of experience as Chief
Deputy Treasurer, I am arguably the most qualified person to assume the role.
During my tenure, I worked closely with the former treasurer gaining extensive
knowledge of every aspect of the treasurer’s office. I can assure you that
experience matters.
My paramount focus is TRUST. As custodian of all county funds, acting as
the bank for the county and the districts,
my role must be executed in a non-partisan manner. With a commitment to impartiality, I have
gained the trust and respect of school district business managers, fire
district chiefs and secretaries, and county department personnel.
I also prepare financial reports
for the annual state audit. When the
state implemented a new banking and revenue schedule, I was the only chief
deputy in the state to complete it correctly. Another year, I received a Leadership and
Service Award for exemplary teamwork and outstanding dedication.
Along with my devoted staff, I
look forward to continuing a trajectory of growth and success.

and approving multi-million dollar county budgets, evaluating department
funding requests, overseeing public expenditures, and helping to ensure the county
remained financially accountable to the public. During his eight years, he

essential public services while emphasizing fiscal responsibility and
transparency.
Before serving as County Commissioner, Cormier worked as a
Senior Real Estate Appraiser, giving him a depth of knowledge of property
valuation and the levy system.
Experience that is relevant to the position of County Treasurer.
During his time as Commissioner, Cormier was always a
pragmatic decision maker with a focus on working families, local businesses,
and the community. If elected, he will continue emphasizing accountability,
integrity, and protecting the interests of Grays Harbor residents.
