I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Island County Clerk. Since moving to Island County in 2007, I have called Island County my home. Here, I met my husband, blended our family, and raised our two wonderful boys in Coupeville. This community has given us so much, and I am deeply committed to giving back.
My professional foundation in the Clerk’s Office spans six years, from 2014 to 2020, where I began as Deputy Clerk and advanced to Chief Deputy. This direct experience provided me with a thorough understanding of the office’s operations and a clear vision for meaningful improvements. The Clerk’s Office plays a vital role in the lives of every resident. I am dedicated to ensuring that every individual who interacts with our office is treated with the utmost respect, patience, and compassion.
Since 2020, I have served in the Auditor’s Office in Accounts Payable, gaining valuable financial insight and building strong relationships across county departments.
If elected, I will listen to the needs and ideas of our community, make decisions grounded in what best serves the people of Whidbey and Camano, and work tirelessly to deliver efficient, accessible, and compassionate service.
Sincerely, Dierdre Butler

I am proud to run for Island County Clerk to bring experienced, efficient, and transparent leadership to the office serving every resident who interacts with our courts. For years I have managed the daily operations of Juvenile Court Services as Office Manager, overseeing records, filings, public access, and critical programs that support At Risk Youth and families. I understand firsthand how important it is for the Clerk’s office to run smoothly, protect privacy, and ensure every document is recorded and accessible when needed. If elected, I will focus on modernizing court records systems, reducing wait times, improving public access to records while safeguarding confidentiality, and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Island County deserves a Clerk who knows the job from the inside and puts service to residents first.
I have been married for 38 years with 3 sons and 3 grandsons; we own a small farm on Whidbey Island. With deep roots in our community, decades of hands-on court experience, and commitment to fairness, I am ready to serve Island County with competence and care. I respectfully ask for your vote so we can keep our courts working effectively for every family and every citizen.
Thank You!
