A prosecutor must always seek justice and uphold the rule of law. For 28 years you have trusted me as your prosecutor. I work hard to maintain your trust. I’m proud of successfully prosecuting serious offenses and standing up for crime victims. Simultaneously, I have upheld the constitutional rights of criminal defendants to be treated fairly and receive due process of law. As Island County’s legal advisor, I help ensure that you get the good government you deserve. I never flinch from giving public officials candid legal advice, even when it is not the answer they hoped for. Without independent prosecutors devoted to the cause of justice, our constitutional form of government will fail. Today, more than ever before, corrupt public lawyers are undermining our democracy by rejecting the ethical norms that have guided American prosecutors for generations. Attorneys beholden to the President are abusing the immense power of their offices for private gain and vengeance against political opponents. I stand against that kind of corruption in our small corner of the country. I will continue to lead this office by ethically pursuing accountability for wrongdoers and vigorously defending the rule of law. Thank you.

My career has been divided between private practice and public service. Since moving to Whidbey in 2016, I have owned a law office. As a prosecutor, I worked to improve my community by prosecuting criminal offenses and trying to address the underlying causes of crime. I was part of the mental health, veterans, and co-occurring courts working group. I also advised the police, fire, business licensing, parks and recreation and building departments on legal matters and to provide relevant training and enforcement. If elected, I will focus on improving the prosecutor’s services to crime victims, work with the sheriff’s office to improve coordination between the departments to provide training as needed, and with the courts to implement current best practices to improve community safety. I am committed to building trust with all members of the community, regardless of their individual politics. I believe justice is best served by making charging decisions in a timely manner, filing charges fully based on the facts and the law and resolving charges appropriately considering the circumstances of the offenses and the impact it has on the victim and the community. I will serve the interest and protect the rights of everyone in Island County.
