Island County Treasurer

My name is Tony Lam, and I am running for County Treasurer. The County Treasurer holds a key position of public trust in local government finances. The Treasurer acts as the bank for county departments, county offices and local districts (e.g., school, fire, port, water) – it receipts, disburses, invests, and accounts for the funds of each of these entities. The Treasurer also collects various taxes that benefit the County and these districts. The Treasurer must be present daily to train, direct, and support staff to build and maintain a cohesive team. The County Treasurer, as fiduciary, must understand and abide by the statutes that govern the office’s operation as stated in the Revised Code of Washington and the Washington Administrative Code. Island County operates an Investment Pool for the benefit of the County and its districts, which requires an experienced Investment Officer as manager. I understand the importance of this position and the responsibility required to ensure trust is not misplaced. It has been a pleasure to assist the county in the past four years as County Treasurer, and I will continue to do so for the next few years. I appreciate your vote.
