Claudia Balducci
statement appears AII’m proud to have served as a regional leader, delivering results for East King County and communities across our region. Throughout my time on the King County Council, I’ve brought people together to tackle our biggest challenges with practical solutions and a focus on getting things done. Representing you, I’ve led efforts to expand affordable housing, chairing the Regional Affordable Housing Committee and working with cities, housing providers, labor, business, and community organizations to plan for more than 200,000 new affordable homes across King County. I’ve championed transit-oriented development to create thousands of affordable homes near light rail, helped implement Health through Housing, secured stable funding for arts and culture through Doors Open, and continued leading the expansion of our regional transit system, including opening light rail across the I-90 bridge to the Eastside. I’ve also worked to strengthen homelessness and behavioral health services, improve public safety, preserve parks and open space, protect reproductive freedom, defend immigrant communities, and invest in programs that support children, families, and workers. As Council Chair during the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the Council’s response to keep county government open, delivering critical assistance to workers, renters, small businesses, and vulnerable residents. I sponsored the charter amendment moving county elections to even-numbered years so a much larger and more diverse electorate selects their local government representatives. There is still more work to do. I will continue expanding affordable housing, improving public health and safety through smart investments with accountability, completing our regional transit network, protecting our environment, supporting small businesses and working families, and ensuring King County delivers effective, accountable government that reflects the values of the people it serves. It would be an honor to earn your vote once again.
