Caring for our kids, families, and communities is what I do every day– and with your support, I will continue fighting for the people and places that matter. As a longtime educator, former Federal Way School Board Director, and now your State Senator, I place the needs of families and communities first, focusing on solutions and results. I lead Senate efforts to expand services and support for young people, keeping kids in school and away from harm. I sponsored and passed landmark investments in affordable childcare, quality early learning, and help for vulnerable families. I delivered resources for affordable housing options that serve seniors, low-income families, working people, and help people out of homelessness. After devastating floods, I secured over $7.5 million in funding for the city of Pacific. Committed to safety, I voted for pay raises and additional training for law enforcement officers, and funding for drug treatment and recovery. I worked to reduce the tax burden on workers and small businesses, while securing needed funding for K-12. I’m proudly endorsed by Firefighters, Planned Parenthood, Teachers, Nurses, Alliance for Gun Responsibility, Children’s Campaign Fund, State Labor Council, Machinists. With your vote, I’ll keep fighting– for all of us!

Michael Rutland

(Prefers Republican Party) statement appears AI

Washington families deserve to live in a state where hard work can still afford a home, fill a gas tank, and build a better future for their children. For too long, Olympia has made life more expensive while families fall further behind. Michael Rutland will fight to lower costs, oppose new income taxes, repeal policies driving up fuel and grocery prices, and demand responsible budgeting instead of higher taxes on working people. Washington taxpayers deserve relief, accountability, and leaders who understand the pressure families and small businesses face every day. Every child deserves a great education, and every parent deserves a voice. Michael will support high academic standards, safe schools, career and technical education, and parental involvement so students are prepared for college, careers, and life. He believes schools should focus on helping every student succeed, not political agendas coming from Olympia. Safe neighborhoods, affordable living, and accountable government should not be partisan issues. This election is a chance to bring balance, common sense, and a new direction for Washington, so Washington works for working people again.
