Jamie is widely recognized by labor unions as the most progressive Senate Leader in state history. He led the effort to pass the Millionaires Tax and a capital gains tax to make our tax system fairer, provide funding for universal school lunches, healthcare, and support for our most vulnerable communities and small businesses, while cutting taxes for working families.
With Jamie’s leadership, our state protected Washingtonians from Trump by banning ICE agents hiding behind masks, stopping the use of cameras for surveillance and immigration enforcement, restoring money Trump cut from Planned Parenthood, and protecting sensitive voter information.
Jamie is a fierce champion for equality, leading the fight for marriage equality, LGBTQ+ civil rights, and transgender privacy protections. He’s delivered on school funding, gun violence prevention, abortion rights, renter protections, climate action, and Washington’s paid family leave program. But Jamie knows the work isn’t finished. He is committed to amply funding schools, tackling housing affordability, and building the full light rail system approved by voters.
Jamie and his husband, a retired teacher, have four sons in public schools, and live on Capitol Hill. Jamie has been endorsed by labor unions, Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, and every Democratic State Senator.

Paying rent, buying a home, and raising a family should be affordable. The reason they’re not is because of career politicians who protect the status quo and cut deals with corporate special interests that keep costs high. That’s why we’re the only campaign in this race not taking corporate PAC money.
In the Washington State Legislature, I worked to expand healthcare access, invest in higher education, and tax the ultra-rich. At Working Washington, I fought alongside underpaid workers and took on big corporations to raise wages, strengthen labor standards, and ensure all workers have protections. I organized alongside grassroots workers’ rights, immigrants’ rights, and queer rights organizations to end corporate tax breaks and defend Washington from Trump.
As your state senator, I’ll fight to ensure the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share for good schools, healthcare, and childcare; reduce rent and put homeownership within reach by building more housing; and build toward universal childcare–ultimately lowering costs and making Washington more affordable for all of us.
We’re endorsed by progressive champions and unions like State Representative Shaun Scott, Seattle City Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck, State Senator Rebecca Saldaña, Seattle Port Commissioner Toshiko Hasegawa, AFT Washington, and Working Families Party. More at hannahforwashington.com.
