statement appears humanMy name is Karama H Hawkins. I am asking for re-election as your judge in King County District Court, Shoreline District Position 2. I am dedicated to ensuring that this court remains independent, and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. To serve in this capacity this has been the greatest honor of my career. I have been privileged to preside over the Shoreline/Kenmore Community Court program. I worked collaboratively with community organizations and UW to create a free life skills course available to everyone. I have created the “Devon’s Closet” Program to provide personal care products, coats, shoes and other necessities to justice involved individuals without resources. I currently preside over the King County District Court Regional Mental Health Court and Regional Veterans Court programs at our Seattle and Kent locates. I have been elected as the King County District Court West Division Presiding Judge. Within King County District Court by serve on several committees and share the GR 36 Committee. On the state level, I serve on the DMCJA Board of Governors and several committees, including the Diversity, Therapeutic Courts, and Education Committees. I look forward to continued work in the Judiciary. I appreciate your support.
