I have spent my career serving vulnerable people–as a prosecutor protecting domestic violence victims, a public defender protecting constitutional rights, and today, an advocate for children and families. In each role, truly helping people requires looking beyond the case to understand and navigate challenges like addiction, mental illness, trauma, and family instability. That takes thoughtfulness, dedication, emotional intelligence, humility, and curiosity. These qualities are equally important on the bench. Defendants who feel heard are more likely to accept their sentence as fair and reflect on their behavior. Judges build trust in the legal system by listening to the communities they serve. Judges who engage thoughtfully with community partners strengthen the community’s ability to support recovery, accountability, and conflict resolution. These efforts create positive feedback loops. Those who succeed in treatment can mentor others struggling with addiction. Trust makes community members more willing to turn to and engage with the court; that engagement gives judges better information; better-informed decisions build greater trust. Listening, learning, and working with our communities will guide how I serve as your judge. I would be honored to earn your vote. Endorsed by SeaTac Mayor Mohamed Egal, Burien Councilmember Sam Mendez, the 33rd District Democrats, and more.
