(Prefers Republican Party) statement appears human I am a husband, father and lifelong resident of Lewis County, except during my military service. I have served with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office for the last 24 years and am currently a bureau chief. I have a vested interest in the success of the sheriff’s office and wellbeing of our community. As your sheriff, I will use my broad range of knowledge and experience and work with our community partners to prioritize the use of the funding entrusted to us to best serve the community.
When making decisions, it is important to focus on “what is right,” and not “who is right.” I will not let an ego interfere with maintaining good working relationships the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office currently has with our regional partners, and will work to increase the collaboration with our local partners. I will use this focus with successful programs that serve the needs and safety of the community.
I believe in the supremacy of the US Constitution, and the need to be more transparent with the public without compromising active investigations.

I’m running for Sheriff because Lewis County deserves the right leader. As Sheriff, I will provide the level of professionalism the citizens of this county expect and deserve. I’ll value, retain, and recruit employees who understand what it means to serve. I’ll provide them with clear policies, training, supervision, mentorship, resources, and tools to do their job effectively and efficiently.
The jail is a critical part of public safety, and it must be safe, secure, and well-managed. I’ll support partnerships that provide effective mental health and substance abuse programs to reduce recidivism and help people successfully return to our community. I support bringing back faith-based and mentoring programs to assist inmates on a pathway to success.
The people of Lewis County deserve complete, thorough, and timely investigations, whether current cases, cold cases, or public corruption. No case will be ignored, and no one will be above the law. I’ll ensure honest communication with the public. Lewis County doesn’t need another administrator; it needs a leader. Vote Change. Vote Murphy.
