I am running for re-election Mason County District Court Judge. I began my judicial career on February 1, 2009, in Shelton Municipal Court. I started my first term as the Mason County District Court Judge on January 1, 2019. I was re-elected to that position in 2022. A judge is not a policy maker. A judge’s duties are to impartially hear cases, apply the laws to the facts and fairly decide the cases. That also requires that a judge must be prepared at times to make rulings that the judge does not want to make. I have worked to preserve the independence of the courts. I have done everything judicially possible to mitigate the situation regarding the shortage of public defenders. I have spoken out on proposed court rules and authored two that were adopted. I am especially proud of the efforts Mason County courts, prosecutors, and defense took to re-start jury trials in 2020, after the Washington State Supreme Court lifted the stay on holding jury trials. We led the State. I look forward to serving the people of Mason County in the future and I ask for your vote.
