Public Utility Districts are a result of the citizen led Initiative N0. 1 sponsored by the Washington State Grange in 1929 to bring electricity to rural Washington. Today PUD’s provide electricity, highspeed fiber and water to their customers. A resident of Mason County 41 of my 60 years, many as a rate payer. I truly appreciate the benefit of the public power that Mason PUD 3 provides, the lower rates, reliability and shorter outage times than the typical private utility. I also appreciate the highspeed FIBERHOOD Program provides to our home, it is competitively priced and reliable. I am a Land Surveyor with 35 plus years of experience in private/public sectors. Retired from Washington Department of Natural Resources (DNR). While at DNR, managed the Public Land Survey Office (PLSO)/ Administrator for the DNR Survey Advisory Board, working with all 39 county auditors/staff on compliance with RCW 58.09/WAC 332-130. Public policy experience through DNR and Washington AgForestry Leadership program. I will advocate for affordable electricity rates as allowed by state mandates. I am approachable, transparent, loyal and have the experience, integrity, and leadership skills to hold this office. Please allow me to serve and represent you.

My priorities: Slow or stop these huge rate increases by budgeting and living within our means. Prioritizing PUD Broadband options. Creating competition, better service and access in rural areas. Local service hubs providing quicker access for customers and outage response. Investing into infrastructure expansion and upgrades to profit from inevitable future growth. Aim for zero rate increases for 4 years I have spent 20 years successfully representing you in local government. 6 years as a Port commissioner learning the basics of government budgeting, grants, economic development and utility infrastructure. 14 years as your Mason County Commissioner learning every aspect of a responsible government with 400+ employees. I successfully focused on restructuring our county’s fiscal position. Rightsized our government personnel, refocusing on Law Enforcement and services that benefited you. Took us from a low of $165K cash on hand to a whopping $29 million cash in the General fund alone. We did all this without raising county taxes for 10 years. We simply lived within our means! No other county in Washington can claim this today. I have decades of experience in managing a controlled budget and yes, experience does matter! I fix broken things. I can help here too!
