statement appears humanI was unanimously appointed to the Tacoma Municipal Court by our City Council. I’m the first immigrant to serve. For many people, my courtroom is the first time they see someone who looks and talks like them sitting on the bench. Serving Tacoma as a Judge is the greatest honor of my life. I’ve dedicated my career to advancing equity and justice and ensuring that all perspectives can be heard without bias. I bring a new perspective that is grounded in diverse lived and professional experience. I’m committed to building and strengthening diversion and therapeutic programs, approaches that are proven to address root causes of crime and reduce reoffending. We can hold people accountable while also working to restore lives and strengthen our communities.
