To sustain current services, including our free recycling programs and Take It Or Leave It (TIOLI), Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District (LSWDD) requires dependable, recurring support from several sources, including garbage disposal fees, sale of recyclables, volunteer hours, and our annual levy. Historically, the levy has generated one-third or less of LSWDD’s annual expenses. Washington State authorizes disposal districts to seek levy funding only one year at a time, which means LSWDD must pass a levy each year to secure funding for the following year. We strongly encourage a YES vote on Proposition No. 1 - Excess Property Tax Levy 2027 for the Lopez Solid Waste Disposal District (LSWDD). Fellow Lopezians, this is our opportunity to THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY. Support your local Dump. Set an example for the world by engaging with your entire Lopez community in reducing waste while minimizing the costs of waste disposal. Your vote can change the world, or at the very least our little island. Your YES vote on this essential levy demonstrates support to the LSWDD board, staff, and volunteers. The LSWDD team works hard to reduce our collective waste and lower the costs of our solid waste operations, thereby keeping this annual levy at a minimal level year after year.
