Skagit County Clerk

I am honored to serve as your County Clerk and would be privileged to continue in that role. My career has been dedicated to the legal community, and public confidence in our justice system is more important than ever. The Clerk’s Office operates within the executive branch, independent of the judiciary, serving as the administrative and financial office of Superior Court. Responsible for a $3 million budget and 19 staff, I’ve worked to modernize services, implement e-filing, and build a strong, effective team. This work is highly technical and vital–ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and accessibility of court records. Yet it is also deeply human. We serve people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, whether navigating family matters, grieving loss, or facing a legal system that can feel overwhelming. I believe the Clerk’s Office is about more than records and procedures. It is about helping people navigate a complex system with dignity, compassion, and respect. Skagit County deserves a Clerk invested in the community and working every day to make the justice system more accessible. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. The County Clerk is the guardian of the Superior Court record and a vital link between the public, the courts, and other branches of county government. This office is responsible for receiving, processing, and preserving case filings, maintaining accurate dockets, and handling court-related financial transactions with care and accountability. The work demands precision, confidentiality, and a steady focus on fairness so that every person engaging with the court system can trust that their documents and payments are handled correctly. As your County Clerk, and citizen representative to the courts, I will listen to anyone who wants to be heard to ensure that our procedures are clear, consistent, and customer-friendly at the counter and online. Drawing on my experience managing complex contracts, strict deadlines, and diverse clients, I will prioritize efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility in every aspect of the office. I will be a careful steward of public resources, prioritizing needs over wants and working daily to improve transparency and reduce barriers to justice. Together, we can strengthen trust in our courts and protect the integrity of the public record for our beautiful Skagit County.
