Spokane County Fire District 3 needs your support to maintain the emergency services our communities depend on and improve emergency response throughout the district. Rising operating costs have already forced the district to leave two positions unfilled. While the department will continue to operate responsibly within its means, this EMS levy is needed to improve response times and reduce risk. The proposed levy would cost approximately $4.17 per month for every $100,000 of assessed property value. It would provide the staffing needed to place Firefighters/EMTs in two additional stations 24 hours a day, with current plans focused on Station 31 in Cheney and Station 36 in Spangle. The levy is dedicated exclusively to Emergency Medical Services (EMS). SCFD3 provides EMS through Firefighters who also respond to fires, rescues, vehicle crashes, wildland fires, and other emergencies. This funding will preserve services, strengthen staffing, support sustainable volunteer operations, and expand 24-hour emergency response coverage across the district. Every taxpayer benefits, even if they do not live near one of these stations. When firefighters remain available in their own response areas, neighboring stations are less likely to be pulled away to cover distant emergencies. This strengthens coverage throughout the district and helps ensure the closest available crew responds when every minute counts. The department has managed taxpayer resources responsibly. This levy will help preserve essential services and strengthen emergency response for every community served by Spokane County Fire District 3. Please vote yes.
