Thurston County Coroner

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me as your Thurston County Coroner. It has been an honor to serve this community since 2007, and to work alongside dedicated professionals who respond with care, compassion, and professionalism during some of the most difficult moments families will ever face. My work in this field began long before I was elected. I served as a funeral director and embalmer before joining the Coroner’s Office as Deputy Coroner in 2001. That experience shaped my commitment to treating every person with dignity, supporting families with respect, and ensuring death investigations are handled thoroughly and professionally. Over the years, our office has grown to meet the needs of a changing county, including increased demands related to population growth, homelessness, overdoses, and complex death investigations. We have strengthened training, improved operations, invested in equipment, restored the Chief Deputy Coroner position for the first time since the 1990s, and, in 2025, proudly achieved state certification and national accreditation. As Thurston County continues to grow and county offices face significant budget pressures, I remain committed to leading a compassionate, professional, and fiscally responsible Coroner’s Office.
