(Prefers Independent Party) statement appears human Serving the people of Thurston County has been the honor of a lifetime. Together, we have made historic improvements to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office by centering people, relationships, and safer outcomes in every decision we make.
Today, the Sheriff’s Office is a statewide leader in public communication, training standards, and proven de-escalation tactics that help bring critical incidents to safer resolutions. This work has been possible because we focused on the most important job a sheriff has: building meaningful relationships.
The strong regional partnerships we have built help ensure we are ready for whatever challenges arise. They have also resulted in overwhelming bipartisan support from elected officials across every jurisdiction in Thurston County, along with law enforcement, firefighters, lawmakers, and community leaders.
I have reimagined how a sheriff can advocate for public safety and show up for the community, work that cannot be accomplished from behind a desk. Thurston County deserves an elected sheriff who leads from the front lines, builds strong partnerships, and works beyond the job description around the clock. I am that sheriff, and with your support, we will continue advancing our vision of unified public safety.

(Prefers Democratic Party) statement likely AI Thurston County deserves a Sheriff who is qualified, accountable, and grounded in the community they serve.
I have spent my entire adult life in uniform. Twenty years in the Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Eleven years at the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, where I’m a special victims detective serving our most vulnerable neighbors. I brought that same discipline to earning two master’s degrees, in criminal justice and public administration. I’m also proud to be President of my union, the Thurston County Deputy Sheriff’s Association.
As Sheriff, I will give this community information it can trust and verify. That starts with seeking outside accreditation: independent reviewers making sure the office follows state law and meets professional standards. It means publishing our policies so people can see exactly how we operate. It means training deputies in victim-centered approaches and harm reduction. And it means clear annual budget disclosures so taxpayers never have to dig to find out how their money is spent.
I will provide strong training, and real transparency & accountability. I will spend your tax dollars wisely, with your input, and create a culture in our Sheriff’s office that puts you first.
