Voting “yes” on the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority M&O Levy will help ensure firefighters have reliable emergency vehicles and safe, functional stations when our community needs them most. Many frontline emergency vehicles are nearing or have exceeded their recommended service life. Continuing to delay replacement means higher maintenance and repair costs, reduced reliability, and a greater risk that critical apparatus will be unavailable during an emergency. Levy funding will allow WTRFA to follow a planned replacement schedule and keep safe, dependable vehicles ready to respond. The levy will also fund essential station maintenance, including aging HVAC systems, roofing, electrical and plumbing repairs, and other work needed to keep facilities safe and operational. Addressing these needs before major failures occur protects public infrastructure, strengthens emergency readiness, reduces costly emergency repairs, and allows firefighters to focus on serving the community safely and effectively. A “yes” vote is an investment in dependable emergency service and responsible long-term planning. Replacing equipment before it fails and maintaining facilities before serious problems develop is generally more cost-effective than waiting for emergencies. All levy revenue will be dedicated to apparatus replacement and facility maintenance under a long-term capital improvement plan, with regular public reporting. Voting “yes” will help WTRFA remain prepared to provide timely, professional emergency services whenever our community calls.
