statement appears humanServing as PUD Commissioner has deepened my understanding of the tremendous challenges and opportunities before us. In a time of generational shifts, utility providers bear great responsibilities to maintain and deliver essential services that are foundational for all our livelihoods. Grappling with rapidly growing demand, capacity constraints, and development pressures - it is imperative for us to meet this moment. At Whatcom PUD, we are working to build stronger infrastructure for local and regional benefits. In my first two years in office, we approved large capital projects to engineer and construct new facilities – including a non-potable water plant, power transmission lines and a substation to replace fossil fuel generation with clean electricity. We’re doing all this and more without levying any taxes, and I am committed to keeping it that way. Faced with complex issues and pivotal decisions, I keep common values at the forefront while carefully weighing competing interests. In my next term, I will continue working to improve and expand core services while protecting and restoring natural resources. I will continue to seek lasting solutions that sustain freshwater supplies for farms, fisheries, industries, and every household. I would be honored to earn your vote.
