We all agree that governments at all levels should operate within their means. Belt-tightening measures have been implemented throughout all Lynden City Departments to reduce costs while minimizing the impact to services. The simple truth is that the City is unable to raise the money we need to maintain the quality of services we have come to expect and value. Why vote yes? All of us who live in Lynden have come to enjoy our City’s green spaces including parks and trails. This levy supports the maintenance necessary to keep them beautiful. Our public safety is also an essential component of the levy. With population growth, the addition of police officers is needed. The Fire Department is also stretched thin, handling over 2,700 calls per year. The levy lid lift is critical for us to maintain our quality of life in Lynden. For only a small additional amount of 50 cents per $1,000 of assessed value we will be able to keep essential police and fire services, and resources to care for streets, parks, our Community Center, and other valuable assets. The city we love needs our investment: vote for the levy to keep us safe and well-maintained. https://www.lyndenwa.org/435/2026LevyLidLift
